For more than a century, the Greater Baltimore Urban League (GBUL) has stood at the center of civil rights and economic advancement. From helping desegregate the Baltimore City Fire Department and the University of Maryland, to today’s work training underemployed Baltimoreans for careers in technology and construction, GBUL continues to build real pathways to stability and success.

NCIA: Workforce Development With Dignity and Results

The National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA) is one of Baltimore’s most impactful workforce organizations—especially for the unemployed, underemployed, and previously incarcerated. Arts for Learning Maryland: Advancing Education Through Creativity

For 75 years, Arts for Learning Maryland—formerly Young Audiences—has proven that creativity is a powerful force for academic growth. Through arts-integrated classroom instruction, pre-K programming, and after-school enrichment, A4L improves literacy, math achievement, and student engagement across the region.

The organization is now expanding its impact with a new arts-integrated public charter school set to open next year.

Innovative Initiatives: Closing Baltimore’s Digital Divide

Hooper’s Heroes: A Legacy That Continues to Inspire

Hooper’s Heroes holds a special place in my heart. Founded by my former high school classmates, this nonprofit honors the legacy of our late SAT prep teacher, Clair Hooper. Ms. Hooper was brilliant educator who uplifted generations of students in a low-income, majority-minority school.
